Our History
Established in 1981, John B Lane CPA has been dedicated to providing personalized assistance to small businesses. Founded by a young and ambitious CPA, John initiated strategic partnerships with tax lawyers to navigate the complex tax code, ensuring clients had access to comprehensive tax services from a boutique firm. This collaborative approach laid the groundwork for a culture of continuous learning and staff development.
Experiencing rapid growth, the firm expanded to a team of 25 by 1994 when John transitioned ownership to Randy Scott, forming what is now Scott and Company LLC. John subsequently delved into family office work for 12 years, fostering a global perspective on taxation and establishing a managed futures fund specializing in currencies, interest rates, stock indices, and energy.
In 2007, John acquired a small accounting firm in Elgin SC, rekindling his passion for cultivating exceptional CPAs with in-depth tax knowledge. Today, our team comprises 17 dedicated professionals, including 5 CPAs, 1 staff accountant, 5 bookkeepers, 5 administrative staff, and a firm administrator.
Committed to professional development, we go beyond the required 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE), encouraging our staff to pursue up to 80 hours annually.
